Learn more about the man behind Marshall Black Carpentry

Marshall began his building career in the film and television industry in Toronto, working first as a Prop and Set Builder, and ultimately becoming an Art Director. During his Film Industry career, Marshall also worked as the On-Air Carpenter for the first season of Divine Design With Candice Olson.

Marshall then took his carpentry skills and natural creative abilities, and made the transition into residential carpentry. For more than a decade, he has been using this creativity and skill to offer a distinct and superior product to his clients.

Having spent his summers growing up on Georgian Bay, Marshall moved to the area permanently with his family in 2005.

Marshall was honoured to be featured as a builder on the 2012 hit HGTV series starring Bryan Baeumler: House of Bryan – On the Rocks. In the summer of 2017 Marshall and his team were filmed for a television show on Cottage Life Network called Lake Docks and Decks that airs at 9:00pm on Thursday nights.

Getting to live and work in the most beautiful place on the planet motivates Marshall to approach what he does with enthusiasm and a strong work ethic. Marshall is extremely selective in the carpentry staff he hires and the tradespeople that he utilizes. He always endeavours to achieve perfection, and expects the same from the professionals that he brings onto his projects.
